Colorful Creations, Eternal Impact: Sharing Jesus Through Sand Art – by Michael and Karen Steele

The Pennsylvania Northern Tier Chapter of FCFI is always seeking new ways to share the Salvation Message of Lord Jesus. One of the key methods we use is the Wordless Bible, represented by five colored beads, each carrying a powerful message:

Gold = Heaven
Black = Sin
Red = Jesus’ Blood
White = Clean, Pure, Forgiven
Green = Growing in Knowledge of Jesus
To capture people’s attention in a fresh and engaging way, our chapter has introduced a new approach—sand art.

Using the same Wordless Bible colors, we provide free necklaces and guide participants in filling their own. They are free to arrange the colors in any order and quantity, while we explain the meaning behind each color.

This interactive activity not only sparks creativity but also serves as a meaningful tool to share the Gospel of Jesus.

Below are some pictures showcasing how the sand art table is helping us spread the message of salvation!

A picture by a neighbor vendor (Andy Lapp) shows witnessing going on at both the sand art table and the ministry table. 2025 Lehigh Valley RV Show.

At the 2025 Virginia Farm Show, a young man, possibly in his thirties, stopped by our table. He noticed the Wordless Bible colors on the FCFI Wordless Walking Sticks and shared a personal story with us. As a child, he first learned about Jesus through sand art brought into his Sunday School class.

This method of sharing the Gospel is not new, yet it is not widely used.

Our Mission and Concerns

The Pennsylvania Northern Tier Chapter did not introduce sand art just for entertainment. Our true desire is to lead souls to Jesus. However, we had concerns—what if people simply enjoyed making necklaces, but no one truly came to Christ?

There was significant effort involved:

Seeing the Fruit of Our Labor

At our second event, the 2023 PA Adventure RV Show in Altoona, PA, we saw our prayers answered. A 16-year-old boy brought his 10-year-old brother to our table, and right there, the older brother accepted Jesus into his heart and life.

Below are some more pictures of the Sand Art in action!

Here you see FCFI husband and wife team Ernie and Martha Reese at the 2024 Easter Show in Ocean City Maryland sharing Jesus with a few attendees.

Next up is another picture of Ernie and Martha Reese at the 2024 Easter Show in Ocean City Maryland.  The Sand Art table was very busy at this event and Jesus was shared with every one that stopped as they learned about the colors and made a Dolphin Sand Art Necklace. At this event 170 necklaces were made and 170 times Jesus was shared.

A young family stops at the Sand Art Table to make a necklace at the Home Builders Show in Williamsport, Pennsylvania in 2024.  Notice how they all are at the level of the table and engaged.

Whatever we can do to reach more people with the message of Jesus is worth the time and effort.

God Bless!
