Central Texas Flooding: A Call to Prayer and Action – by Art Free

Over the July 4th weekend, Central Texas was hit by severe flash flooding, leaving many communities devastated. The storm system responsible for the torrential rains is now moving north, but the danger isn’t over yet—several counties remain under flood and flash flood watches through Wednesday.

In the wake of this disaster, the Fellowship of Christian Farmers International (FCFI) is actively exploring ways to respond. Art Free, our most active FCFI representative in Texas, has reached out to the Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Disaster Assessment and Recovery Office to assess how we might assist. As of now, search and rescue operations are still underway, and the full scope of need is still unfolding.

From what Art has gathered, the area is still in shock from the enormity of the situation. Cleanup efforts are expected to begin soon, and FCFI is working to identify both people and resources that can help in the recovery process.

In the meantime, local FFA chapters have already stepped up, collecting funds in the form of gift cards to support affected families in the region—a great example of community in action.

Let’s continue to pray for those affected, and be ready to serve when called upon. This is a time for faith, compassion, and action.
