As the United States celebrated its 250th anniversary this year, it was an opportunity to reflect on the importance of faith, prayer, and spiritual renewal in our nation.
Bill Nichols points to the promise found in 2 Chronicles 7:14 as a reminder of the need to seek God:
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
This passage reminds believers that genuine renewal begins with humility, prayer, and a willingness to turn back to God.
Signs of a Great Awakening
Nichols reflects on the First and Second Great Awakenings, which brought significant spiritual and cultural changes to American society. He believes the nation is experiencing a Third Great Awakening, pointing to reports of spiritual interest and people responding to the Gospel at outreach events and shows.
He also sees the reversal of Roe v. Wade as a significant victory for the church. For Nichols, these developments are reasons for believers to remain encouraged and continue sharing their faith.
As Christians, we are called to be the salt of the earth. Nichols emphasizes that sharing the truth of God’s Word is an expression of genuine love for others. Through FCFI’s shows and outreach opportunities, people are being reached with the Gospel, one person at a time.
Encouragement to Keep Moving Forward
Nichols also recalls a message shared by Andrew Wommack during a praise and worship meeting on September 8, 2023. The message encouraged believers who were troubled by events in the nation, reminding them that God had not forgotten His people and that He was still at work.
Drawing from the biblical account of Elijah and the 7,000 who had not bowed to Baal, the message encouraged Christians not to lose heart. It reminded them that, despite the challenges and battles ahead, God remains greater than those who oppose Him.
The message also called believers to stay encouraged, recognizing that there is still much work to be done and that sharing the Gospel remains essential.
Reaching the Nation One Soul at a Time
Nichols encourages Christians to remain faithful in prayer, stand firm in God’s Word, and continue reaching others with the truth of the Gospel.
Spiritual renewal begins with individuals whose lives are changed by Christ. Every conversation, testimony, and opportunity to share God’s love can make a difference.
