We are pleased to welcome Bruce Cobb as our next speaker for the Zoom Fellowship and Prayer Meeting discussing how the new culture of FFA is off track and moving away from their Christian heritage in promoting a type of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion emphasis leading to exclusion of FCFI from FFA conventions. Our “ideology” and that of Cowboy Church and other religious organizations is no longer welcome at National FFA and some state conventions such as Texas.
Bruce Cobb is a member of Friends of the Rising Sun and is one of the main supporters in contributing content and strategy. We at FCFI have also developed a relationship with the Friends of the Rising Sun, a national group of FFA alumni, educators, former officers, and supporters who are pushing back against what they see as the growing influence of DEI and other ideological priorities within FFA at the expense of its traditional emphasis on agricultural education, merit, leadership, character, and service. The group has become an important source of information and advocacy concerning changes in National and state FFA policies, particularly those affecting religious expression and participation. They have been actively raising these concerns with FFA leadership, policymakers, and government officials and have helped bring FCFI’s experience with exhibitor restrictions to the attention of USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins and others. Their work is broader than FCFI’s particular concern: they are seeking what they regard as a return to the traditional mission and values of FFA rather than allowing the organization to become an avenue for what many of us would describe as the “woke” ideological agenda that has increasingly influenced American institutions. Friends of the Rising Sun describes its constituency as alumni, teachers, and current members concerned that FFA has drifted from its core mission and emphasizes returning FFA to agricultural education, leadership, integrity, merit, and its traditional values.
Bruce brings more than 35 years of experience in the beef and food industry, along with extensive leadership experience in education, agriculture, business, church, and Christian organizations.
Bruce currently serves as Executive Vice President of Production at Certified Angus Beef. Throughout his career, he has been involved in beef demand development, sales, and production, as well as numerous leadership roles within the cattle and beef industry.
He also served for 12 years as a Canyon ISD school board trustee and president and spent 15 years serving on the Texas FFA Foundation Board, including as vice chairman. His years of involvement with FFA and agricultural leadership have given him a unique perspective on the changes taking place within the organization.
Beyond his professional and community leadership, Bruce has served in multiple leadership roles within churches and Christian organizations. He is also involved with Friends of the Rising Sun, reflecting his continued commitment to serving others and making a positive impact.
During this upcoming Zoom Fellowship and Prayer Meeting, Bruce will share about the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) stance within FFA and how these policies are affecting FCFI’s ability to access booths and share the Gospel at FFA conventions.
