Dorant’s Report on the Devastation of his Home and Church

Upon returning to Jamaica, Pastor Brown quickly realized the extent of the damage left behind. The storm severely impacted the Nightingale Grove Baptist Church facilities, and restoring the sanctuary to its former condition will require significant time, effort, and financial resources. While the road ahead may seem daunting, Pastor Brown remains hopeful, trusting that with God’s help—and the support of His people—restoration is possible.

Church Restoration Efforts

One of the greatest needs at the moment is the repair of the church sanctuary. The current structure requires major work. Pastor Brown is currently awaiting the cost estimate, but the repairs are expected to be substantial. He humbly asks for continued prayers as decisions are made and provision is sought.

Urgent Housing Needs for the Brown Family

In addition to the church repairs, Pastor Brown is facing personal housing challenges. The parsonage where he and his family previously lived also requires work before it can be used again. They had to temporarily stay in a schoolroom. However, the government is resuming classes and this arrangement is no longer possible.

Pastor Brown could not afford to pay both a mortgage and rent, making the need for a restored parsonage even more pressing. He has finally gotten his roof back on, but still lacks a ceiling, doors and windows. This is where our FCFI team is going to help with both the cost and volunteer repairs/installation. We are looking for both funding and volunteers to join us in a trip down Feb. 1st. You may stay as long as you are able.

How You Can Pray and Support

Pastor Brown expresses his heartfelt gratitude for all who have already prayed and offered support. He asks that we continue to lift up the following needs in prayer:

Your prayers and support mean more than words can express. Thank you for standing with Pastor Dorant Brown, his family, and the congregation during this difficult season.
