Each day offers a short reflection and a focused prayer point. Join us in setting aside a moment daily to pray and seek God together
1. It is decreed that the city be exiled and carried away. Its slave girls moan like doves and beat upon their breasts, (Nahum 2:7). Nineveh’s judgment had been decreed and would come to pass because they had captured Israel. We pray to follow God’s leadership and not be enslaved by the world around us.
1-3 Onefest, Cadott, WI, Don Miske
2. Their cavalry gallops headlong, their horsemen come from afar. They fly like a vulture swooping to devour, (Habakkuk 1:8). When Habakkuk cried out to God as to why He allowed the wicked in Judah to prevail, God answered him with the prophecy of what was coming. We pray to not be a people of wicked actions.
Rock the Lake, Lakeview, OH, Bill Nichols…… Cheddar Cheese Festival, Adams, NY, Bill Brown
3. On that day, declares the Lord, a cry will go up from the Fish Gate, wailing from the New Quarter, and a loud crash from the hills, (Zephaniah 1:10). Judah had no sorrow for her sins and destruction was coming… woe be unto America. We pray to be the remnant that worships the Lord our God.
1-3 Eden Corn Festival, Eden, NY, Bill Brown
4. I (God) called for a drought on the fields and the mountains, on the grain, the new wine, the oil and whatever the ground produces, on men and cattle, and on the labor of your hands, (Haggai 1:11). The Israelites had been released from captivity and had been back in Jerusalem 15 years and still had not rebuilt the Temple as God had instructed… still rebellious. God gave them the results of their actions. We pray to follow God in our hearts and our actions.
1-4 Niagara County Fair, Lockport, NY, Bill Brown
5. And many people and powerful nations will come to Jerusalem to seek the Lord Almighty and to entreat Him, (Zechariah 8:22). From being a laughingstock because of their sinfulness to being a holy place and a blessing will be Jerusalem. People from all the earth will want to go there for a blessing. We pray to uphold God’s chosen country and people.
5-7 Wisconsin Farm Technology Days, Cadott, WI, Pastor Dave Adams
6. Remember the law of my servant Moses, the decrees and laws I gave him at Horeb for all Israel, (Malachi 4:4). These laws given to Moses were the foundation of the nation’s moral, civil, and ceremonial life and still apply today. We pray to know God’s Word and thus His laws and obey in our hearts and actions.
Old Home Days, Vernon Center, NY, Bill Brown
7. But John tried to deter Him (Jesus), saying, I need to be baptized by you, and do You come to me? Jesus replied, let it be so now, it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness. Then John consented, (Matthew 3:13-15). Jesus asked John to baptize Him… not because of sin but to accomplish God’s mission and to be obedient to His Father in heaven. We pray to humble ourselves before the Lord.
5-7 Minnesota Farmfest, Redwood Falls, MN, Doug Peterson
8. Then He (Jesus) said to them, The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So, the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath, (Mark 3:4). For the Pharisees, Sabbath laws had become more important than Sabbath rest. They followed Jesus around just to test and harass Him. We pray to be refreshed both physically and spiritually when we take time for a Sabbath rest.
Please pray for Diana Buell. She has heart issues.
9. Therefore, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, it seemed good also to me to write an orderly account for you, the most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught, (Luke 1:3-4). Luke wanted a first responder, detailed account of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection to share with others seeking the truth of what happened. We pray to seek God’s truth in accordance to His Word and to share that Gospel with others.
2-9 West End Laurelton Fair, Laurelton, PA, Ernie Reese
10. When the two disciples (of John) heard him say this, they followed Jesus. Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, what do you want, (John 1:37). Our mission statement can be: Find a place where Jesus is working and join Him. We pray to follow Jesus in every aspect of our lives.
Please pray for Parnell. He was in a motorcycle accident and is in ICU with lots of broken bones.
11. Men of Galilee, they (two men dressed in white) said, why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen Him go into heaven, (Acts 1:11). The disciples were admonished by the angels to go get busy sharing the Good News of Jesus. We pray our lives will reflect the same directives as the angels gave the first Christians.
Please pray for Ron Herrold’s sister. She is in critical condition because of cancer.
12. I am obligated both to Greeks and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish. That is why I am so eager to preach the Gospel also to you who are at Rome, (Romans 1:14-15). The Gospel explains how unrighteous people can receive an upright standing before a Holy God. We pray to receive the Good News in our lives and to share it throughout the world.
Please pray for Bill Brown.
13. No, we speak of God’s secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory, (1 Corinthians 2:7-8). Jesus was misunderstood and rejected by those the world considered wise. Unbelievers who either refuse to accept Him or choose to ignore Him or have not heard the Good News are still present today… seems more than ever. We pray to proclaim the Gospel in our words and actions.
13-17 Annual Stem, Gas and Threshing Show, Pinckneyville, IL, Mike Weaver
14. For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And as through Him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God, (2 Corinthians 1:20). All of God’s promises of what the Messiah would be like are fulfilled in Christ. We pray to have faith to believe and accept Christ as our Lord and Savior.
13-17 Kenosha County Fair, Wilmot, WI, Mike Weaver
15. Paul, an apostle, sent not from men nor by man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised Him from the dead, and all the brothers with me, to the Churches in Galatia, (Galatians 1:1-2). Paul’s purpose of this letter was to explain that following Jewish laws would not bring salvation. We pray to know that persons then and now can only be saved by grace through faith in our Lord, Jesus Christ.
15-16 Sunbury River Festival, Sunbury, PA, Ernie Reece
16. That power is like the working of His mighty strength, which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come, (Ephesians 1:19-21). We fear power in the wrong hands. We can rest assured that God’s power through Jesus has secured our future as we place our hearts and lives into His care. We pray to understand God is in control.
15-17 Woodsmen’s Field Days, Boonville, NY, Bill Brown
17. God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus. And this is my prayer, that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, (Philippians 1:8-9). All Christians are a part of God’s family and share in the transforming power of His love. We pray to feel a deep love for our fellow Christians.
15-17 Roseboom Antique Show, Roseboom, NY, Bill Brown
18. He (false teacher) has lost connection with the Head (Jesus), from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow, (Colossians 2:19). Anyone who teaches about God without being connected to Him by faith should not be trusted. We pray to know God’s Word and thus His will and stay connected.
Please pray for our farmers as they are in the midst of crop production.
19. We always thank God for all of you (Thessalonians), mentioning you in our prayers. We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, (1 Thessalonians 1:2-3). Thessalonica was a pagan city. When the Christians were persecuted, they stood firm in their faith. We pray to have these three—faith, love and hope—as we proclaim the Gospel message.
19-21 Dakota Fest, Mitchel, SD, Jeff Goss
20. I, Paul, write this greeting in my own hand, which is the distinguishing mark in all my letters. This is how I write. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all, (2 Thessalonians 3:17-18). We are encouraged by Paul to continue living responsibly in spite of our circumstances. We pray to live as we believe Christ will return.
19-23 Northumberland County Fair, Ernie Reece
21. For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come, (1 Timothy 4:8). To develop our bodies, we must train physically. To develop our spiritual heart, we must develop our faith through study of God’s Word. We pray to take care of our physical bodies but more so our spiritual muscles.
20-23 Tri-State Antique Tractor Show, Bill Nichols
22. If we endure, we will also reign with Him, (2 Timothy 2:12). Hardships will come as long as we are on earth… some more than others. If we do not turn our backs on Him, we will reign with Him in eternity. We pray to endure with our faith that eventually we will reign eternally with Christ.
21-24 Brooklyn Fair, Brooklyn, CT, Bill Brown
23. Our people (Christians) must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good, in order that they may provide for daily necessities and not live unproductive lives, (Titus 3:14). Titus is filled with practical leadership suggestions. The song, We’ll Work till Jesus Comes…Then We Will Be Gathered Home, is appropriate from this Scripture. We pray to fi nd our ministry and work with the strength of the Lord.
21-25 Connecticut Valey Fair, Bradford, VT, Bill Brown
24. Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself, (Hebrews 3:3). As Moses led the people of Israel out of Egyptian bondage, so Christ leads us out of sin’s bondage. We pray to honor God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit as our spiritual builders.
Farmer’s Market, Syracuse, NY, Bill Brown
25. In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction, (James 2:25). Of all the people in Jericho, Rahab was the one who came forth to help the spies because of her faith in God’s purpose for Israel. We pray to use our faith to strengthen God’s purpose in our lives and the lives of those around us.
29-31 NY State Trappers Association Convention, Herkimer, NY, Bill Brown
26. Instead, it (beauty) should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight, (1 Peter 3:4). I’m not sure of women of the Bible but women of today’s world definitely have a hard time with this Scripture… yet here it is in God’s Word. We, as women, pray to have the inner glow of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
26-28 Farm Progress Show, Decatur, Dennis Schlagel
27. But, if anyone does not have them (Spiritual fruit), he is nearsighted and blind and has forgotten that he has been cleansed for his past sins, (2 Peter 1:9). Our faith in Christ should produce in us the fruits of the Spirit. We should not be complacent Believers nor emotional jerks. We pray to remember Whose we are.
27-31 Sullivan County Fair, Forksville, PA, Ernie Reece
28. How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him, (1 John 3:1). Knowing that we are a Child of God should change everything about us. We pray to remember that God’s love is true.
8/28-9/1 Walworth County Fair, Elkhorn, WI, Dave Adams
29. Then one of the elders said to me, Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals, (Revelation 5:5). Jesus is the only one in heaven and earth worthy to open the seals of judgment. We pray that many will come to Christ and escape those punishments.
8/29-9/2 Addison County Fair, Vergennes, VT, Bill Brown
30. But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark, and He sent a wind over the earth, and the waters receded, (Genesis 8:1). Noah waited on God’s timing. We pray to do the same as Noah and not try and fix things on our own.
8/29-9/1 West Liberty Labor Day Festival, West Liberty, OH, Bill Nichols
31. The midwives, however, feared God and did not do what the king of Egypt had told them to do; they let the (Israelite) boys live, (Exodus 1:17). The Egyptians were afraid the Israelites would become so numerous that they would rebel and overtake the Egyptians. The king ordered the midwives to kill all the boy babies. But the midwives respected God and defied the king. We pray we will stand for what is right even in the threat of persecution.
Please pray for Bob’s marriage and for Crystal in a facility for schizophrenia.
