Prayer Guide and Devotional – July 13, 2025

Ephesians 5:11

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.

When you stop and think what time of the day most crimes occur, you usually think through the night. Why is that? Because it is dark and a person cannot be seen as well. Several times in the Bible the Lord relates darkness to sin for this very reason. The Lord tells us to have no part of the darkness, meaning sin. And just the opposite, expose that sin so it can be viewed exactly as it is, bad and destructive. We can avoid bad and destructive behavior by avoiding the “darkness” of this world (sin). This is helping us to explain the black bead on the Wordless Bible Bracelet. We avoid sin by coming to Jesus Christ as our Savior! He washed away our sins with His shed blood through His death on the cross and by His resurrection. It is only by coming to Jesus that we can avoid sin in our lives. Sin is even described in the Bible as unfruitful. What does one do with an unfruitful tree? Cut it down and burn it!
Pray that people would work to avoid the evil in the darkness of this world and let the light of our great and awesome God illuminate their lives!
