Indiana Sullivan FCFI provided equipment for FFA picking up debris from the previous Tornado that occurred in Sullivan, Indiana on March 31st, 2023 a little over a year before the recent tornado in the same area May 16th. And there was a third tornado that struck in the town of Shelburn in Sullivan County that destroyed 160 homes and caused 13 fatalities May 21st of 1949.
In the wake of the recent, devastating tornado outbreak that stretched from Oklahoma to central Kentucky, the Fellowship of Christian Farmers International (FCFI) is mobilizing to connect willing hearts with real needs. These violent storms struck in the middle of the night—catching many off guard—and left a wide path of destruction across multiple states.
We’re inviting volunteers to serve with our ministry partners to support families in crisis. Here are key opportunities where your help is needed:
- Sullivan, Indiana – Supporting Farmers Affected by Tornadoes
Steve Miller will be leading efforts in Sullivan with the Side-by-Side AUV pulling a dump trailer. FCFI is also relocating a tractor to assist with debris loading. We have strong connections with local farmers in the area, as this marks our second tornado recovery response in Sullivan.
We’re especially excited about the possibility of involving local FFA youth again, just as we did previously. Their support was instrumental, and we welcome anyone willing to assist with immediate cleanup and rebuilding.
- St. Louis, Missouri – Partnering with God’s Pit Crew
Dan Miller is leading a team to serve in St. Louis alongside God’s Pit Crew, a disaster response ministry providing practical help and hope. If you’d like to be part of this recovery effort, FCFI can help get you connected and ready to serve.
- London, Kentucky – Join 8 Days of Hope
London was one of the hardest-hit areas, with families losing their homes while sleeping. Volunteers are encouraged to register directly through 8 Days of Hope. FCFI will help guide you through the process and connect you with others joining the effort.
This region, much like past recovery areas in North Carolina, will need help for months to come. If now isn’t the right time for you, there will still be many opportunities to serve later.
- Additional Tornado Zones – Oklahoma to Kentucky
This tornado outbreak affected a wide area, and FCFI is currently assessing additional needs across the region. If you’re ready to serve, we’ll match you with a team or project where help is urgently needed.
