New Book Available!

Glenn Schuler, one of our Iowa volunteers, offered a book he wrote on one of our display tables.  The back cover explains it best:
"Words can be a powerful tool to understand and express how you are feeling.  Poetry is perhaps one of the best examples of that.  It moves you and makes you think.
In "From a Brother to Another" author Glenn Schuler shares his thoughts and poems that broke down difficult language barriers and opened the ears and hearts of those he loves.  The poems were written over 25 years while he faced challenges like divorce,  job failures, loneliness, depression,  financial woes, inflated pride, and more.  Now he is ready to share his words with you..."

Peoria Farm Show 2023

F

FCFI Area Leader Jeff Goss shares the Gospel at the Peoria Farm Show

The Peoria Farm Show for 2023 took place on November 28-30, 2023 at the Peoria Civic Center.  It was their 41st annual show!  The Fellowship of Christian Farmers, International has attended this show for a long time, as it is the closest show to the home office in Lexington, Illinois.  It is a free admission show that has been getting smaller through the years, although enthusiasm remains.

The star of the show - our restored John Deere 110 garden tractor, restored and made to look like a mini - 4020, complete with dually rear wheels!

The John Deere mini-4040 was restored by Don Miske, Allenton, Wisconsin.  This is the 4th tractor he has restored, and all auction sales proceeds have benefited the Fellowship of Christian Farmers.  This latest effort is the first one with dually wheels on the back.  We are waiting for Mecum to announce their next tractor auction.  In the meantime, this little tractor has visited the Antique Tractor Show near Geneseo, Illinois,  the Illinois Hunting and Fishing Show, Carterville, Illinois, the Lexington Homecoming Parade, the Lexington Small Business Day, and Lexington's Christmas on the Prairie.  I think it needs its tank filled again!

A couple of kids looking over our new Case IH books for kids

The Case IH farm tractor books will be available through the Fellowship of Christian Farmers at the home office, 221 W Main, Lexington, IL.  We will also be bringing them to a farm show near you.  And they will be available soon at fcfi.org, our website.

This mini - 4020 brought lots of people to our booth.  Farmers love their tractors!  We will continue to show off this beautiful restoration until the next Mecum Auction is announced.

Stay tuned for our year-end eNewsletters coming in the next couple of weeks.  Thank you for your support!!

Executive Director Dennis Schlagel showing off the mini-4020.  I don't think he wants to sell it.  I think he just wants to show it off and play with it:)

Clarion, PA Crafter's Day

Heavy street traffic in Clarion, Pennsylvania for Crafter's Day

The Autumn Leaf Festival in Clarion, Pennsylvania had their Farmers and Crafters Day.  The festival ran from September 30 to October 8, 2023 on Main Street in Clarion.  The rain did not dampen the enthusiasm of the event, as the street was lined with vendors and a large crowd of visitors.  The Fellowship of Christian Farmers made their first appearance at this festival, handing out free walking sticks and yard sticks to passers by.

Looks like the crosswalk from the Beatles Abby Road album!!  Gotta love the Great Pyrenees!

Looking in the Fellowship tent where guests hear the Message

Jean Hulse shares the Gospel message using one of 400 yard sticks prepared for the Autumn Leaf Festival.  Jean and Dan Hulse recalled a friend in Ohio, Jim Lewis, who was very busy sharing the Gospel message at the National Farm Machinery show, National FFA Convention, and the Farm Science Review each year with the Fellowship of Christian Farmers, International.  Jim Lewis was a Nationwide Insurance Agent that loved to interact with young people about their spiritual life and faith in Jesus Christ as Lord. Dan and Jean contacted FCFI about materials needed to set up an outdoor exhibit.

Busy street scene at the Autumn Leaf Festival

Pray the momentum of Clarion, Pennsylvania Autumn Leaf Festival FCFI exhibit carries on to next summer’s Clarion County Fair Booth.  “I don’t want to wait until next  summer to share the gospel,” Jean Hulse reported to FCFI Executive Director, Dennis Schlagel. “I hope some other event  comes up where we can set up another exhibit,” Jean lamented.

Homemade Wordless Walking Sticks

Dan and Jean Hulse from Clarion, PA hand crafted wordless walking sticks from trees in the woods and dowel rods that were painted and decorated.  Over 300 of these hand-made walking sticks had holes drilled to tie the leather bracelets on to the stick.  Each leather bracelet had five colored pony beads threaded into place to share the gospel message.  In 1866 Charles Spurgeon preached a sermon at the Metropolitan Tabernacle, in London entitled, “The Wordless Book”. Three pages of the book included a dark page representing sinfulness; red for the shed blood of Christ; and a white page representing cleansing of a person’s sin by faith.  Dwight L. Moody used a gold page  with Spurgeon’s three colors  where he preached children’s services to depict God’s love and the glories of His heavenly home.  The green color became the cover for the Wordless Book by Child Evangelism Fellowship in 1924.  The Wordless Walking stick uses the same colors as the Wordless Book only with pony beads on an 18” strap of leather.  Old, old way of sharing the Gospel message that still works!
