Judges 2:3

Therefore I also said, ‘I will not drive them out before you; but they shall be thorns in your side, and their gods shall be a snare to you.’”

The Israelites were coming into the Promised Land. The Lord had made a covenant with the people of Israel. They shall have no other gods and the Lord would bless them and take care of them. They were to remove the altars built by the previous inhabitants to clean up the land. But the Hebrews did not do this. The Lord was upset with them. Yes, the Lord could have eliminated them Himself. The Lord had brought them very far and was constantly providing for them and protecting them. But He wanted to see that the people would uphold their end of the covenant. He wanted to see them take the responsibility of ridding the land of their false gods and destroying their worship centers. Since they would not assume their responsibilities, the Lord allowed the previous inhabitants that were still there to remain. The Lord came right out and told them that He would not drive these people and their false gods out and that these people would become a trap for the Hebrews. Let us all boldly take the responsibilities the Lord has placed on His Christian children. Do not be lazy like the Hebrews were and say "Lord, You take care of everything while I sit back and do nothing!" Do not be lured to false Gods as a mouse is lured into the trap with cheese. We have responsibilities as children of God to act accordingly and work hard to live a Godly life. Don't force the Lord to allow traps in your life!

Lord, I know that I have many responsibilities as an adopted child of Yours. I could easily become lazy and self-centered like a lot of people are getting. But I want to show You how much I love You and appreciate all You do for me. Help me to always stay on the right path in following Your every command and help me to be a great diplomat for Lord Jesus in this lost world. In Jesus Name I ask, Amen!!
