Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving,
present your requests to God.

PRAYER GUIDE - May 2008

  1.  “Enlarge the place of your tent --- do not hold back;
lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes”,
Isaiah 34:2. The month of May is one of the busiest
for many farmers. Lord, as I am busy with this
planting season, keep me ever mindful of you.

Don’t let me get stuck in a rut --- I want to serve you in the field and out of the field. Let us pray today for a family in Michigan needing direction, wisdom, and understanding as to whether the Lord would have them continue farming in a difficult situation.

  2. The Saw Tech Log Show in Bancroft, Ontario, Canada runs today and tomorrow. George Gardiner will be there with the “Walking Stick” ministry as he and his helpers share God’s great Good News. Bring needy souls, Holy One, to the FCF booth where they can hear answers to all of life’s many questions.

  3. The “I Farm Show” in Great Bend, Kansas runs all day today. Sam Kaufman and his assistants want to share their Christian faith with as many attendees as possible. Bless their efforts, Sweet Jesus.

  4.  “Lord, let me first go and bury my father”, Matthew 8:21. God, how many excuses have you heard? I want to answer your call right now. Help me to put aside the good “stuff” so that I can do the best “stuff” now.

  5.  “Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice”, Philippians 4:4. We rejoice today because we have the opportunity to help FCF financially and physically. Thank you, Lord, for our many FCF outreaches. Continue to bless FCF financially and grant our leadership both wisdom and provision.

  6.  “Some of the Pharisees said, “This man (Jesus) is not from God for he does not keep the Sabbath”, John 9:15. They said this after Jesus had healed the blind man on the Sabbath. Have you rejected Jesus because He doesn’t fit your idea of who He should be? Relax. Jesus, continue to reveal yourself to each of us as you really are and forgive us our foolish ideas.

  7.  “For I (Jesus) tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the Kingdom of Heaven”, Matthew 5:20. Knowledge can be good but unless we apply it with wisdom, it is worthless. Precious Lord, I don’t want to be like the Pharisees. I want to be like you so that you will be glorified and I can enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

  8.  “You do not have because you do not ask”, James 4:2. Have you ever wondered why things don’t come out the way you expected them to? For many, it is because we didn’t pray and seek God’s guidance first. Father, forgive us our shortcomings, for complaining, for leaving you out of our decision making. Help us to do a better job of “relying” on you next time.

  9.  “A man plans his course but the Lord determines his steps”, Proverbs 16:9. An old saying says, “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail” but, God say’s, “My ways are higher than your ways”. So make plans but don’t “cast them in concrete” because you can almost bet that God will change them. Thank you, Lord, for your interest in me and for the plans you have for me.

  10. FCF Canada plans to expand into British Columbia and will be touring several towns in that province these next three weeks. Would you like to go along? Pray about it and if God says, “Yes”, call Eldon Babcock at 306-379-4629. He would be happy to have your assistance.

  11. Today is “Mother’s Day”. El Shaddai, Our All Sufficient One, thank you for mothers, all mothers but especially my mother. She is the one who showed me the love and care that reflects your love and care for me. Bless her and all mothers on this special day.

  12.  “Where sin increased, grace increased all the more”, Romans 5:20. The USA and Canada we founded on Biblical values but we have strayed far from those original ideas and sin permeates our cultures. Forgive us, Lord, for we have grown fat and complacent. Raise up men and women of courage and conviction who will lead us back to godly morals and values.

  13.  “Love each other as I have loved you”, John 15:12. You have to be kidding, my Lord. I can’t do that. No, but I can try. Help me decide to follow you and put aside my selfish ways. Open my eyes to see the good in people and open their eyes to see the Jesus in me. I want to love like you love.

  14.  “The God of Heaven will give you success”, Nehemiah 2:20. “Commit to the Lord whatever you do and your plans will succeed”, Proverbs 16:3. I get the message, Holy One. Anything I can do, you can do better. Continue to break down the stubborn me so that I can do what has to be done for your honor and glory.

  15. I want to praise you, Father God. I planted dried up shriveled seeds that looked dead but now, my fields are green with new growth. Where I planted corn, corn grows; where beans are planted, there are beans growing; wheat, cotton, tomatoes, alfalfa, peanuts are just the same way. How does that dried up seed know what it is? Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation, seed bearing plants, and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their kinds”, Genesis 1:12. For this we give you thanks, Our Creator of all life.

  16.  “Remember this, whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly and whoever sows generously will also reap generously”, 2 Corinthians 9:6. Farmers certainly understand this but Paul isn’t talking just about seeds, he is talking about giving --- time, money, energy, love. Thank you, Father, for this promise. You set the example. We will try to follow.

  17. VanKleek Hill in Ontario, Canada hosts the May Show Festival to day and tomorrow. FCF will greet show goers with the Good News of Jesus Christ. Bless and multiply their efforts we pray, in Jesus name.

  18.  “I urge first of all that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone”, 1 Timothy 1:2. Take time today to pray for special people in your life be they a mate, children, parents, friends, pastor, missionaries, employees or employer, neighbors, leaders, and especially fellow FCF member George Holmes who is recovering from a farm accident which resulted in three broken bones in his right leg and ankle. Lord grant him a speedy and prefect healing and peace as he must watch others tend to spring work on the farm.

  19.  “So we too have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by observing the law because by observing the law no one will be justified”, Galatians 2:16b. Holy Spirit, continue to remind us that we are justified by faith and faith alone not by observing the law.

  20.  “What does the Lord require of you? To act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God”, Micah 6:8. That is a tall order, Lord, especially the “walk humbly” part. Help me to walk humbly! Be gentle, Lord, but teach me the humility you desire in me.

  21.  “ --- many even among the leaders believed in Him but, because of the Pharisees, they would not confess their faith --- for they loved the praise from men more than praises from God”, John 12:42, 43. Raboni, many in leadership around the US, Canada, and the whole world are reluctant to declare their faith in you because it is not “politically correct” to do so. Change their attitude before their attitude completely changes them.

  22.  “By this all men will know that you are my disciples if you love one another”, John 13:35. Jesus, do people know that I am your disciple? Do I really love others? Does it show? Lord, please give me a “check up from the neck up”.

  23.  “Do not swerve to the right or the left. Keep your foot from evil”, Proverbs 5:27. Strive for integrity. It takes a lifetime to build a reputation and one foolish act can destroy it. Father in heaven, you offered me forgiveness through your son, Jesus, and I gratefully accept it. But, I need you to keep me from sinning again and again. I want to serve, not swerve.

  24.  “You shall be witness to me in Jerusalem, all of Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth”, Acts 1:8. You don’t give us an option, Master, as you say, you shall be my witness. We pray today and every day that our witness will be a good one.

  25.  “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also”, Luke 12:34. “But store up treasures for yourselves, where moth and rust do not destroy and where thieves do not break in and steal”, Matthew 6:20. Plant these words in our hearts, our Lord and Savior, so that we will live what we say we believe.

  26.  “Like a scarecrow in a melon patch, their idols cannot speak; they must be carried because they cannot walk. Do not follow them; they can do no harm not can they do any good”, Jeremiah 10:5.  I love this verse, Lamb of God. Help me to get rid of my worthless idols.

  27.  “Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing”, Proverbs 3:9,10. Wow! What a promise! I want my barns to be full so that I can better honor and serve you.

  28.  “I will remove from you a heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh”, Ezekiel 36:26b. Prince of Peace, thank you for our new heart of flesh. That is the best heart surgery we can ever anticipate.

  29.  “Even after Jesus had done all these miraculous signs in their presence, they would not believe Him”, John 12:37. Teacher, we often become discouraged when our ministering doesn’t seem to bear fruit. You had the same experience but didn’t quit. Lord, don’t let us give up either.

  30.  “The most important one (commandment), answered Jesus is this, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength”, Mark 12:219, 30. May it be so with me, my Lord.

  31. The Heritage Power and Country Festival begins one week of activity today in Cumberland, Ontario, Canada. Anoint our FCF workers with a special talent as they share their faith through the “Walking Stick” ministry and add many souls to your “saved” list, Heavenly Father.
