Drew Fontenot, Kinder, LA, had significant damage from Hurricane Rita in September. Drew and his sons have been working weekends straightening up the structure so insurance money can be used to re-sheet the building. Many other farmers have fences destroyed by storm surge and huge Pine trees that need to be cut up. 400,000 head of cattle had to be moved from south of I-!0 to pasture land north of I-10. There will be situations where hay is needed. 15-20 miles north of the Gulf of Mexico to the inner coastal waterway was covered with a salt-fresh water mixture for three weeks. The impact of this salt water on pasture & rice land needs to be assessed. Please pray for the southwest Louisiana farm families as they enter the New Year with big challenges.
