PRAYER  GUIDE - February 2010
  1. February is a small month but it is big on farm shows.  Tomorrow, the three day Iowa Power Farming Show begins in Des Moines.  Master Farmer, this show exhibits power as it applies to the farming industry but, we farmers also need your power to share your “Good News”.  Acts 1:8 says, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you and you will be my witnesses --- to the ends of the earth.  May the FCFI workers at this event have your power to proclaim your Word.

  2. Today is popularly called “Ground Hog Day” when a ground hog (aka woodchuck) in Pennsylvania supposedly predicts the weather for the following six weeks by seeing or not seeing his shadow.  However, the Bible is a better predictor of the future.  John 3:16 tells us, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.  Thank you, Father, for that promise.

  3. Wow!  Lots of prayer requests have come in but, first, thank you, Lord for Sue Phillips’ quick and complete recovery and restoration from her open heart surgery in September.  This is the answer to a multitude of prayers.  Thank you, too, all you prayer warriors, who prayed for Sue and for many others as well.  Yes, prayer works.

  4. Here is a partial list of prayer needs --- recovery and restoration for the victims of the earthquake in Haiti; JR who has ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease), DG who has Alzheimer’s, and DH who has turned sixty-five and seeks a new direction in his life.  HJ and HL ask prayer for unsaved members in their families, CE seeks wisdom and discernment as he ministers to others, and MW would like prayer for health problems.  Jehovah Rappa (the Lord who heals), we often turn to You only after all else fails.  Forgive us, yet turn your ear towards us and hear our prayers and restore us to wholeness.

  5. We have received several requests for financial needs and/or provision.  Pork producers and dairy farmers are especially in need of financial relief.  LP seeks provision for his farm.  DD has financial needs and another seeks prayer for his trucking business and farm finances.  Living Word, your and our Bible has a recommendation concerning our needs.  May we take heed to your suggestion in Matthew 6:33 which reads, “But seek first His Kingdom and His Righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well”.

  6. The leadership of FCFI and FCF Canada have many decisions to make.  For example, at what farm shows to present the “Good News”, what mission trips to support, what “rapid response” needs to meet, how to generate the finances needed for its work, who should be contacted for support, who should be selected to fill leadership roles, and who should be hired for managing the offices of the organizations and what should they be paid for their services?  Wise Counselor, the leadership needs all the help they can get.  Anoint them, we pray, as you did Solomon who says in Proverbs 8:11, “--- wisdom is more precious than rubies and nothing you desire compares to her”.

  7. The Message Bible says in Psalm 130:1, “Help God, the bottom has fallen out!”  Have you ever felt that way?  Most of us have at one time or another.  King of Kings, I can relate to Paul when he says, “--- for what I want to do, I do not do, but what I hate, I do” (Romans 7:15).  Help, Lord, I can’t do it alone.

  8. “When He saw the crowds, he had compassion on them”, Matthew 9:36.  Jesus, you are our example.  Perhaps, we can’t help a crowd but we can help one, or two, or three.  Open our eyes and our hearts.  Surely you have someone in mind for us to reach out to.

  9. The World Ag Expo begins today in Tulare County, California.
NO, FCFI WILL NOT HAVE A DISPLAY THERE BUT THAT SHOULDN’T PREVENT CHRISTIANS ATTENDING THIS EVENT FROM WITNESSING WHEN THE OPPOR- UNITY ARISES. CREATOR GOD, CREATE SITUATIONS AT THE EXPO FOR CHRISTIANS TO BE YOUR WITNESS WHETHER IN WORD OR DEED.

  10. Here comes one of the largest farm shows in the US, the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, Kentucky.  Master, our FCFI team seeks your help in witnessing to everyone who enters their booth.  This show may be large and famous but the people who come still need your forgiveness one at a time.

  11. There is a mission trip to Jamaica today through the 25th.  Father, please protect and use those who will go and encourage the Jamaicans by continuing the work on the Nightingale Grove Church that began last year. Thank you for Ron Niedermeyer who leads this group and has for many years. Bless their work that it might bring glory to You.

  12. Today is Abraham Lincoln’s birthday.  Our nation honors him for keeping our country together and for freeing the slaves.  But, he had lots of help.  Prince of Peace, thank you for using President Lincoln and empowering him to “do the right thing”.  Help each one of us to “do the right thing” everyday whether or not we receive recognition.

  13. “Each man (or woman) should give what he (she) has decided in his (her) heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion for God loves a cheerful giver”, 2 Corinthians 9:7.  I often add to this, “and He loves the rest of us too”.  You do not need our paltry gifts, Holy One, but we praise you for recognizing our attempts to copy you, the ultimate giver.

  14. “Happy Valentine’s Day”.  This is a greeting we express to those near and dear to us.  So we say, “Happy Valentine’s Day“, to you, Jesus.  “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends”, John 15:12-14.

  15. This day has been designated as Presidents’ Day in the US.  It was initiated to honor two great presidents, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, both of whom were born in February but it has come to honor all US presidents.  Chief Cornerstone, today we pray for our sitting president, Barak Obama.  Reveal yourself to him powerfully so that he can and will be the person you have chosen him to be.  Thank you, Lord.

  16. Several ordinary people take on the role of missionary on this day as they travel to Albania to help George and Julie Holmes to take the gospel to the villages of Albania.  “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations (including Albania) --- and teaching them to do everything I have commanded you --- “, Matthew 28: 19, 20.  We pray for these people as they strive to do your will, Jesus.

  17. Did you know that Canada has farm shows, too?  The Canadian International Farm Show starts today in Toronto and FCF Canada has a booth there so they can tell others about Jesus.  Father, your message knows no boundaries and excludes no one.  We pray your spirit dwells mightily at this show and many tongues confess Jesus as Lord in that place.  Today is also Ash Wednesday which marks the beginning of the Lenten season.  It is a day of repentance.  Son of God, we don’t need to wait until Ash Wednesday to repent but hear our prayers of repentance now and lead us away from the sins that so easily beset us.

  18. The Trapper Festival opens tomorrow in La Pas, Manitoba, Canada. Yes, trappers need Jesus too. While some people are “fishers of men”  others are ”trappers of men” either way, Raboni, use these FCF Canada men and women to share with confidence the walking stick message of eternal life to every man, woman, and child that enter their booth.

  19. Kansas City, Kansas welcomes all to the Western Farm Show.  While we easterners might consider Kansas City to be west, I’ll bet the Californians don’t think that way.  Regardless of the name, it is a farm show and FCFI has an exhibit there and we are determined to share Jesus with everyone whether they are from east, west, north, or south.  Son of David, the stakes are high, in fact they are heavenly so muscle your way into the hearts of many at this event.

  20. “Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations --- “, Matthew 28:19.  Jesus implores us to not just “convert” people but to “make disciples”, to “teach them to obey everything I have commanded you”, Matthew 28:20.  Master, teach us that conversion is not the end of our ministry but the beginning! Lead us to continue to “be your witnesses” in all that we do.

  21. “ --- Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, you and your household”, Acts 16:31. I have heard it said that there are no spiritual children or grandchildren i.e. you can’t get to heaven on someone else’s shoestring.  Yet, this verse makes one wonder.  Father God, how does our “household” get saved on our behalf?  Is there a carryover, not in faith but in the belief system that permeates our home?  Please, Father, save our “household” however you do it.

  22. Today is George Washington’s birthday.  Most Americans know George as “the father of our country”.  Yet, as Christians we know that you, Heavenly Father, are the real father of our country.  We thank you, Father, for the leadership that George Washington gave our country at its beginning and we thank you for the countless blessing so generously bestowed on as as a country and as individuals.

  23. The city of Portales hosts the New Mexico Ag Expo which begins today.  Jerry Rice leads the FCF witness team there.  Lion of Judah, we call the host state New Mexico and our goal is to have many new  Christians through their fine work.  Spread your Word through these fine folks we pray, in Jesus name.

  24. Syracuse is home to the (mostly) indoor New York Farm Show at the New York State Fairgrounds. Farmers and their friends some from all over the Northeast (and even Canada) to see the latest in farm machinery and to hear about the newest developments in the field(s) of agriculture. GPS seems to be one of the latest innovations that is taking the farm community by storm. Jehova Rohi (our shepherd) people need guidance too. May we all return to “the book” for our guidance along with those who choose to stop at the FCFI booth during this show.

  25. The 16th Annual Outreach Dinner will be held this evening at the Elmer Grange Hall in New Jersey.  I think that sixteen consecutive outreaches is an FCFI record.  Father God, continue to bless and use this outreach to reach out to the entire community and beyond.

  26. Canada’s smallest province hosts the International Potato Expo in Charlottetown, PEI (Prince Edward Island).  Advocate, small or large, we all need your saving grace.  Inspire our FCF Canada team to speak life and freedom to visitors to their booth.

  27. Bill Brown leads the Florida Flywhweelers Show which ends today in Fort Meed, Florida.  Please use this ministry and the walking sticks to open the eyes of many fairgoers to see Your truth and receive the gospel message of salvation.

  28. “This is the day the Lord has made.  We will rejoice and be glad in it”, Psalm 118:24.  Three close friends of ours died this past year, two in middle age and one in his 70’s.  We don’t know when He will call any of us home.  Lord of Lords, help each of us to make the most of every day we have.  We give each day to you and to those who are important to us.
